This past Friday we traveled to Cleveland for the last Running of the Brides event of 2008. The turn out was great, in fact it was double what they had last year. A record was almost shattered here as well. The first sale of the morning happened at 8:16am, the record for quickest sale is 8:14am. Finding a dress inside of 20 minutes is simply amazing considering how long it takes most women to find their dress.
There are some photos from the event on our Flickr page. We also had Billy J Disc Jockeys to entertain the crowd starting at 6am. There’s nothing like some electric slide at 6:45 in the morning!
Many of you may know that WeddingWire partners with Filene’s Basement on their Running of the Brides wedding dress events around the country. We’ve met so many eager brides ready to find their perfect wedding gown. This morning we had another Running of the Brides event at the Filene’s Basement here in DC. For those unfamiliar with the event, brides line up early in the morning for their chance to walk away with their wedding dress at a cost of $249-$699 for designer and name brand dresses that retail for much more, as in up to $9000. So it draws a huge crowd to each event they host.
We had a team of employees attend this event with myself and Sonny arriving there at a little before 5am to greet about 50 or so people already waiting in line (the first group got there at 1pm the day before!) In case you haven’t heard of the Filene’s Basement Running of the Brides events, the summer ‘running’ season kicked off last Friday in Towson, MD. WeddingWire partners with Filene’s Basement on a contest for brides looking for their wedding dress at each of their events. Filene’s Basement runs these events are local stores up and down the east coast.
